Internet – Definition of internet, some basic terms:- Browse, Browser, Chatroom, Cyber Space, Download, Email, Home page, HTML, HTTP, Internet Service Provider, Upload, Protocol, Web Browser, Webs page and Website.

Internet main browser, Internet explorer, Netscape navigator, Opera, Firefox etc. Features in main browser window, title bar, main bar, tool bar, address bar etc. Internet Services – Email, Email discussion groups, Usenet, FTP, www etc.

Definition of Electronic mail – Email Services, Sending or receiving email, chatting. Steps involved in creating email account, steps involved in opening mail box. Features in an email address eg. Fme@finegorng.org. Differences between email and website address. Definition of chatting, steps involved in chatting.

Definition of Networking. Types of Networks, Ethernet token ring, Arcnet. Network topology, Star, Bus, Ring. Network Devices, Modems, Switches, Routers, Network Interface Card (NIC).

Definition of WWW – Briefing of History of World Wide Web (mention should be made of Nigerian contribution to www). Basic Terminologies:- www, website, webpage, homepage, protocols etc.

Network Cable and Connectors Cables:- Twisted pair, coated, fibre optics, telephones connectors: RJ45, RS11 Connectors, Computer cables and connectors, power cables, Data Cables. Printer Cables, Universal Serial Bus (USB) Monitor Cables, Connectors: Males and Female.
