SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
1. Read The Lion and the Jewel.
2. Summarize the events in each scene.
SCENE MORNING
School teacher (Lakunle) meet with Sidi who has a small pail of water on her head at the village center.
Four girls appear to chant with them and Lakunle dances.
Appear Baroka the bale (kabiyesi) from behind the Odan tree.
Baroka accuses Lakunle of trying to steal the village maidenhead (Sidi). He enjoys the dance.
SCENE (NOON AND NIGHT)
A road by the market, Sadiku informs Sidi of Baroka’s intention to marry her.
Sidi refuses his proposal
Lakunle tells the story of how Baroka sworn against the progress of Ilujinle people as his father told him.
Then, his profession of love to Sidi.
Baroka in bed with his favorite wife.
Baroka in Bed with Sadiku.
Baroka’s revelation to Sadiku.
Sadiku meets Sidi to tell her Baroka’s shortcoming and the victory of women over him.
Sidi meets with Baroka in his bedroom.
Lakunle and Sadiku at market clearing wait for Sidi’s return from Baroka’s place
Sidi burst in where Lakulnle and Sadiku are waiting for her crying.
She reveals that Baroka tricks Sadiku.
Sidi rejects Lakunle and is ready to marry the Lion (Baroka)
