TOPIC 2:READING TO MAKE NOTES
Note-taking is a technique of recording important information for future use. Good notes should be as brief as possible without leaving out important points. You may use the title of the passage/chapter/book to help you anticipate the main ideas of the text. When you read a text, you need to draw out the main idea and the supporting details
When you take notes, use your own words, but the ideas should relate to one another. Your notes should be arranged in an appropriate form.
When you read to take notes, it is necessary to jot down the name of the author, the date of publication, the title of the book, the name of pages etc.
NB: One of the purposes of note-taking is to help the writer recall main ideas and details he has encountered in the process of either reading or listening to a lecture. Therefore, essential details must be legibly noted and written.
