DISCUSSION:
Power of resistance: this is a theme in the drama book. Resistance means an act opposing or withstanding a move, request, or an action of something or somebody. In the drama, Sidi resists the marriage Lakunle is offering her emphasizing that he must pay her dowry or else make her a laughing stock in the village. She also resists his peck. She resists his idea of protecting her when Sadiku informs her of Baroka’s request to marry her. Her resistance makes Lakunle desire her the more. Sidi’s resistance at the end of the drama makes Lakunle to tell her that he still desires to marry her notwithstanding what has transpired between her and Baroka. Power of resistance is also seen when Sidi visited Baroka to mock him. The cold welcome given to her by the Lion makes her get attracted to him. The Lion deliberately did that to get her. Power of resistance throughout the drama helps to the development of the storyline.
