*Specific Objective: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

(1)Define antonyms and differenciate between words exactly/nearly opposite in meaning.

(2)Define Directions; Identify words that indicate direction such as left turn, right turn, straight ahead, round about etc

TOPIC 1(ANTONYMS)

Antonyms are words which do not resemble each other in any way. They have direct opposite in meaning to each other.

                   An antonym therefore is a word which has a meaning opposite to the meaning of another word. It shows a relationship in contrast. It means then that when it is one word, it is not the other. For (e.g.) If it is “wrong”, it is not “right”.

NB:As you choose the opposite of a word (an antonym); you should make sure that you have the correct meaning of the word you use, for a word is rarely an exact of another.

Directions are instructions about how to get from one place to another.

-Land marks(buildings, trees etc)
