WEEK 2:SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES

TOPIC: Sexually transmitted diseases

So many individual animals live with different types of infectious diseases. Having known that these infectious diseases are caused by germs or microbial (microorganisms). We often fail to keep hygiene and neatness to help us curb the rate of this infectious diseases. Sexually transmitted infections are diseases which can be contracted mostly through sexual intercourse or relationship. These infection or germs do not exclude any genders, it has no age barrier. This infection can also be transferred from parents to children through birth. These infections are mostly transferred through anal, oral, or copulated sex. The major causes of this infection are micro organisms. These organisms are so tiny that they can invade the surface skin without seeing it. Micro-organisms are classified on the basis of their size, they dye (pigment) they are stained with etc.

Micro-organisms

Micro-organisms are tiny organisms that cannot be seen with the nake eye but by the use of microscope. Scientists made us to know that micro-organisms are ubiquitous which simply mean they are every where. Micro-organisms can be found on surfaces, water, in air and so on

Classes of micro-organisms

Virus: viruses are the most smallest of all others. Scientists considered this group of microbial to be between the border line of living and non-living. The microscope used to view and observed electron microscope.

Bacteria: we have countless number of bacteria on earth. The major two groups of bacteria are

  • Gram-positive.
  • Gram-negative.

Fungi: fungi are a little bigger than bacteria and virus. Good example is yeast andcandida.

Protozoa: These group are the largest in size among them. Some of them can even be seen withnake eye. This group include: chlamydomonas, paramecium, amoeba and euglena..

The following are examples of sexually transmitted infection
