Pathogens are micro-organisms that are capable of causing infectious diseases in the body. Disease means illness of the body or a general disorder of the body and mind.

Example of pathogens are bacteria, fungi, viruses Rickettsiae, worms, protozoa.

Pathogenic diseases are diseases caused by these micro-organisms.

WEEK 6: FOOD (MEANING AND CLASSES)

Food is any material or substance we eat (liquid or solid) to nourish our body, keep us alive, healthy, and makes us grow with lot of energy for physical activities.

CLASSIFICATION OF FOODS

There are six classes of food namely:

Refuse Disposal:

Refuse simply mean solid waste and it consists of all unwanted solid materials, generated in homes, offices, farms, industries etc. that is meant to be thrown away. Example of such waste include, vegetable, food, paper-can, bottle, fragment of leather, welders scrap metal, pieces of clothes etc.  

Types of Refuse:

Refuse is classified into two major categories, namely

Determinants of Health:

The health of an individual is affected by various factors through life. The factors which play major role in influencing the health of an individual include the following

WEEK 3:: NON- CONTACT SPORTS

 

TOPIC: NON- CONTACT SPORTS

Non- contact sports are sports where contestants do not have any possible means of making impact on opposing player or athlete in any way. Examples of non-contact sports are the sprints – 100m, 200m and 400m races, swimming, gymnastics, scrabble, chess etc.

Skills of non-contact sports (swimming):

Swimming is keeping and propelling the body in water by the action of the arms and legs, using the following methods or strokes.

WEEK 2:CONTACT AND NON-CONTACT SPORTS

TOPIC: CONTACT AND NON-CONTACT SPORTS

Contact sports: These are sports that require physical or bodily touch between contestants.

Types of contact sports

  1. Full contact sports
  2. Partial contact sports

Full contact sports:  They are sports that emphasis full body contact, as they cannot be undertaken without physical  contact which is allow by the rule of the sports example of such sports include.
