TOPIC: Characterization of characters in the drama book, The Lion and the Jewel.

11. Mummers
To characterize a character, you
_ in the first paragraph,state the relationship of the character with other characters.
_in the second paragraph,state the qualities of the character with instances from the book to prove the qualities you mention.
_in the third paragraph,state all the roles played by the character i.e the things the character did and the things that happened to the character.
Remember, the role of a character is the importance, significance or relevance of the character to the development of the story. To characterize a character means to discuss, comment, analyze, justify, explain, describe the character, qualities and role.
For example:
Discuss the character,Sadiku.
Sadiku in the drama book,The Lion and the Jewel is the first wife to Baroka, the Bale and kabiyesi of Ilunjinle village.She has lived with him for forty years as wife.
Sadiku is an old woman much older than Sidi. She is her husband's agent when it comes to getting a new wife as seen when she informed Sidi of Baroka's intention to marry her.She is a betrayer as seen when she betrayed her husband's secret and assumed weakness. Sadiku is not a jealous wife because she accepts other wives by Baroka, the polygamist. She is scornful to the husband when she mocked him with mummers.
In the drama book, Sadiku informed Sidi of her husband's intention to take Sidi for a new wife. She informed her husband of Sidi's rejection of his request. Baroka confided in her of his assumed impotency.She is happy and revealed it to Sidi.In alliance with Sidi,she sees the impotency as an end to acquiring more wives and victory for womenfolk.At the end of the drama book, when Sidi eventually marries Baroka, Sadiku asks the goddess of fertility to bless her.
